Hiya everyone, I have been looking at All-Father's photo blog, and I was thinking that I could show the TO bunch some of my photos.
Not wanting to shine above or on a similar level to All-Father, as he lives in such a picturesque location, I have to travel a lot further to find good photo opportunities.
So, I start in Kenya, July and August 09, I am putting on a handful (a rather large handful I must admit) of the original ~2000 photos.
If anyone is interested in going on safari, I highly recommend African Safari Club, they were exceptional, apart from the 9 hour flight with Monarch in which I couldn't put my arms beside me, and I'm not the largest of people, as you may notice in the pictures.
So, I recommend arranging alternative flights to Kenya, BA do flights to Nairobi. :)

Me - surfing on a rock. I is well cool aint I? :P

This holiday is very close to my heart, so please only constructive criticism and compliments. :)

the only picture i don't like is the sun/moon(not sure which one that is :P) it draws you to the bottom of the picture and there isn't a whole lot else going on. but i'm sure there was a good reason for that. everything else i thought was amazing  :)

my favorite picture is the one where the lion is giving a "lol wut?" expression  :D

Thanks so far,

@King Winter: Safari is awesome, I recommend it to anyone and everyone. It's just a tad on the expensive side, especially if you go as a family of 4+.

@Sneezy Panda: I couldn't decide which of 2 sunset pics to put on, and i chose that one because it was a bit different to the others, which all had the sun in the middle, and you can see the inverted pyramid of light shining on the clouds, but thanks for your opinion :)

well, its hard to say. its a little weird that the sun is at the bottom. because usually it would be in the center or somewhere in that general area. i do like the shape that it creates. UGGHHH! its so hard to decide if its a good picture or not :p

Here are some more pics, mainly experiments with the camera, trying to see what I can do:

The Sky just after a lightning strike:

During a strike!:

Shoreham Air Show:

Experiments using a technique called 'Painting with Light':

Mega close-up:

There I was, sitting in the garden, when I noticed something fall from the trees onto the lawn, I went over and had a look at it and it was a Caterpillar, anyone know which sort it is?:

Thanks

Haven't figured out who yet, but someone in this thread is very talented in photography.

Amazing.

Pretty cool.

Those are my two of my favourites, but obviously they're all extremely good. There are others I would pick out that particularly like too, but I probably won't stop. However, the one of the storm is brilliant! Would be great as a desktop background.

Thanks, I'm glad you like them. Where it says 'Angel', that was meant to be my mums first name, but we didn't capture the 'a' on the end...
My personal favourites are the 8th, 10th and 11th ones of the fireworks.

Sorry if this is Necromancy, but it is my blog that desperately needs updating :P

Right, I thought I'd upload some of my more artistic shots from over the years (all 4).

One issue that I have by living in such a, well, anti-photogenic area is that I am forced to travel in the quest of photography.

EDIT: Here are the pictures. :)

We start in my back garden, exotic of the exotica.

Then we move rapidly into Vancouver:

Now we move into the South of France in '07

And, the thing we all have in common, also, the reason why this website is here :P

Enjoy peeps :)

Thanks man, I those pictures there were taken with different cameras,

the garden one - BenQ DC C40 (my first camera) :P
The Vancouver and France ones - Fujifilm s5600
Warhammer ones - Fujifilm S100FS

Hopefully in the years to come I'll be upgrading to a proper DSLR :) Maybe Nikon or Canon?

I really like Nikon cameras. They are much more sturdy than Canon cameras. But Canon have more lenses available and are cheaper.
The sony ones aren't bad either. To be honest though, I'd go Nikon. The D40 is easily good enough for what I'd be doing, but the D60 (what I have) is cheap enough these days. The new ones are good but if you are making the jump into DSLR I don't think you need to jump right into those right away. They are professional cameras and cost a LOT.
Also... megapixels (despite what a lot of people think) don't mean a lot. You really don't need more than 6mp unless you plan on printing on a massive scale.
Let me know which cameras you are thinking about and I will let you know. I can also ask my friends if I'm not sure (I'm good friends with three amazing professionals - no I don't consider myself there yet).

Before I post the link, I want to say I do not post this to make fun of the Christian Religion as a whole (I do consider myself Christian btw). Only dumb lucks who can't get their facts right.

I had an old WASP at my yard sale last year turn down a collection of Harry Potter hardbacks because they were witchcraft.

Minecraft leaves players no time for reading the Bible? I can only consider this a positive thing. :P

Here's another insane view on this subject,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWVi3O7HIsc&feature=related

Its amazing how many things are "evil", in particular things like Harry Potter.

Now, I'm not a Christian, not even agnostic, just an athiest. And seeing things like this just confirms to me that I'm right. If God has some sort of "chosen people", guys like him are not part of it.
I'm fine with people practicing normal religion but when they get to the stage where they're burning Harry Potter books or Kiss records or convincing messed up young people to join a mass suicide pact, it isn't a religion, its a dangerous cult and should be outlawed.
Ahh Cammerz has typed himself into oblivion! :o Someone get him back xD

You know... I'm convinced more and more there's a paradox in play here. Those who cry witch are witches themselves. The things they're calling evil aren't evil - If anything is evil, odds are it's the man behind the pulpit shouting!

Now, not all of them are evil, just misinformed. But doesn't Christian mythology speak of the Antichrist as a manipulator, who seems to fill the needs of the people but denies them salvation?

How can these people be sure they're not doing the work of Satan? How can we be sure they're sure? I mean, I'm sure they're not because quite frankly as an atheist it's impossible for me to even say Satan exists to accuse Satan of being behind this, so I have to just go the Occam's Razor route and blame misinformation without ruling out a dash of malice in some cases.

But to play Devil's Advocate, what if they're the ones serving evil?
