1850 Mech Space Wolves

Back when I originally started playing warhammer again in 4th with my space wolves again I wanted to run a mech army.  It ended up being silly expensive point wise and money wise so I just went foot slogging wolves.  Now that rhinos are half the point cost that they were when I first started I am definetly going to make this list.  I basically just have to buy some bikes and all the transports almost :S

The only thing I'm not sure on is your lone wolf, he's the only unit there that's going to have to slog across the battlefield, since the wolf scouts will invariably outflank and the long fangs will be sitting pretty. He doesn't seem to fit with the theme of the list.

He is left over points and I just love the unit so why not throw him in.

Basically when I wrote the list I had 6 long fang squads with 6 heavy weapons, DUR! So I dropped one of the weapons form each squad and bought him.

I am not a fan of the powerfists on your grey hunters, thats a lot of points to give to models with just 1 attack! The plasma gun squad might not even be in combat a great deal, so I would look into taking a couple of power weapons instead (and using the spare pts on your smaller GH unit).

I just wanted to mention that I do think it is a good idea to have some shooting in your Grey Hunters (Plasma guns/Meltaguns). This is great way to trick your opponent into preparing for a charge. You could easily make a faint, like your going to charge and give him another turn of shooting. You have two units of Long Fangs, let him sit out in the open and get shot up.
My thinking,
Unit 1 Grey Hunters Plasmaguns
Unit 2 Grey Hunters Meltaguns
Unit 3 Grey Hunters Close Combat- Flamers and MotW.

I would also make your Lone Wolf more CC type with Twin Claws to back up Grey Hunters.

I have had opponents get frustrated because I did not charge them as they were getting torn up by my Long Fangs
