Obligatory re-post from back on TO days.

Fallout terrain and models

Was a guys homebrew efforts, but the thread was quite nice and while I'd love to link to multiple threads on their site I'm not trying to advertise for them. If anything, the models in the forums shop would go well as scavengers in a Fallout game.

:-X Nice mini, but there was a nameless company who started to make a giant crab man, a harmless mutant crab which is not specific to only Fallout ... Bethesda started suing the pants off them until they backed down - These guys have just replicated the iconic FO powered armour suits exactly .... I hope these guys like the feeling of sleeping under newspaper on a park bench  :-\\

He lives in Russia.  Good luck to them.

I really like the "tech wizard". More than just being a Fallout clone; he'd be a great Imperial Magos or somesuch. Though they really ought to just call it a Brotherhood Scribe, they're not fooling anyone :P.

Do they have really nebulous or hard-to-prosecute laws about that kind of thing? I wouldn't be surprised (Red Dwarf springs to mind...), just I never knew specifics.

Russia's one of those "i couldn't care less what your copyright laws say" kind of countries, generally speaking.

...Well it has been historically at least, though I presume it hasn't changed much if 140% of the country is to be believed.

Good, because then Bethesda can't pull the "It detracts from the franchise worth" BS argument.

These miniatures will make the most sales from people already aware of the franchise and wanting to game with them. It's why I love the Borderlands style boxes that one (different) guy made models for, or a number of other translated figures. :)

That's one area of Copyright law I've long despised; "we never intended to do what you've done with our copyright, we never will do what you've done with our copyright, and thus you are in no way, shape or form taking sales away from us and, in fact, could well give us more sales... but you're not allowed to do that because we say so."

That's because they'll lose their intellectual property if they don't take steps to protect it. Or as I like to put it, if they don't pay legal system's enforcers their protection money they will cease to be protected.

That's actually only correct in some situations in some countries, Paradox.
