Death Company Question
« on: July 20, 2010, 04:29:18 PM »
Yes all/most Blood Angel players know about Lemartes and his Litanies of Hate and Honor of the Chapter rules, but one thing I ned to ask is how well does a Death Company fare in battle without Lemartes? Is it any better? Any Worse? Thank you for reading

DCs are great units, just not with jump packs. Their stupid expensive with them considering they don't have power weapons/rending/fleet/something else and a plasma cannon can kill the whole squad.
But for their points they just under the price of an Honour Guard (for 5) but all of them have FnP and FC. Whereas the Honour has it but only as long as their grail holder lives. They also have some decent weapon options.

So foot slogging them with bolters has great effect, 24 inch range thanks to having relentless, add another 6 inches for movement. Or, melee setup in a vehicle. Like I said before, 16 DC can take a Land Raider Crusader for just 10 points over what 16 DC would pay for jump packs, which would you prefer?

OH that's another stupid redundancy. Lemartes has relentless but has NO weapons that even matter for it. The rule doesn't even apply if you had DC with bolters because he isn't affected by them firing their bolters. At least far as my memory goes.

Most of us have pretty much discounted the storm raven as worthless. It's ability to drop units while moving is almost completely moot. It's low armor and high cost make it nigh on useless for survivability. It's coolest feature is that it can legally move 24 inches and still fire 1 weapon thanks to PoTMS.

I've had considerable success with a 10-man footslogger "melee" DC with a pair of power weapons, often led by a (HQ) Chaplain.

Personally, I am tempted to switch to Bolters. 3 attacks on the charge whilst being able to lay down awesome amounts of firepower on the move? Yes please!
