Will probably be in store in a few weeks :D Have a trap door, done with brass, but something is making it cloudy and its not shiny.... little annoying, will keep playing with the formula. But it has more weight than resin.

Also to launch the dungeon section in the store, will have a sewer themed modular board available ;) Perfect for skaven scenarios. Piccys in a week or two.

And not dungeon stuff, but am sorting a few alien eggs out, just need to do a closed varient.

Awkward moment when my girlfriend sees them and goes "Aww how sweet, your making little orange flowers!". My reply was "Err yea, thats it... flowers!" - this sounded a lot better than 'Actually no, they are eggs for alien monsters that copulate with your face, which are designed from female genitalia'...

Well done to all who entered :D A nice variety of minis on display.

Entry C was good, nice conversion and solid enough painting, IMO the reason why the votes went poorly for this one was the photography. Never, (i mean never :P) take pics of your minis with flash on your camera. It washes out the detail and depth and makes everything look flat. Id like to see some pics in good daylight of this mini, i think it would display this nice conversion much better ;)

Entry E had a similar problem, the overall effect of the mini was good when viewed as a whole, the first picture is nice (although it needs a better undercoat). But the extreme closeups dont do it justice, any mini is going to look worse and pick out any mistakes or anything when a 5mm area is blown up to a 800x600 image on your screen - you want your pics close enough to show the details as a whole, but small enough to hide any imperfections ;)

If the winners can all drop me a PM with their shipping details, i can get some shiny dice sent out to them. And if you have won and you live in australia, please move to europe since aussie shipping is painfull  :derp: lol

And Jon - gratz on 1st place :D ill sort your £10 coupon via PM

Narric - Comp points are 5 for 1st, 3 for 2nd place and 1 for third ;)
Good job running this contest and thanks for dragging the contests back into the light of day (kicking and screaming) while the rest of us are a bit lost :D hopefully there will be many more Narric-esque contests!

Just for my curiosities sake, what the hell is F?

I'm pretty sure that it's an old Hero's Quest gargoyle.
In the year 1981, injection moulded plastic minis were quite ... unique ;)

Best tell Thantos to start warming up the dice :)
So hot they are scorching :P

How are your putty sculpting skillz going? Was it yourself who did the tervigon conversion set for chapterhouse back in the mists of my long term memory  :-\ :P

Blender is worth learning really, push past the learning curve! Once you know blender; maya, max and mudbox are much easier to grasp as the next step on.
As well as using 3ds max, I had to learn Multigen Creator 2 at work... that 3d software is nearly as old as i am - its painful to use!

Yea.. ive seen it... months back i messaged Col Gravis asking if he would do me a rider for my unreleased IG style bike...  :shifty: He said he would, then released that on his store and has never replied to my emails ever since.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I felt pretty screwed over tbh and still havent released my bike as im still lacking a rider *sigh*

Next time ill keep my mouth shut, sculpt everything myself, and stop giving people ideas...  :derp:

Try Blender, its free and it has digital sculpting in to too, Maya is just modelling like sketchup is.
You'll want to print something soon - you cant collect minis and do 3d without wanting to combine the two at one stage or another :P Its a fact of life!

Ahh ok, i thought Google Sketchup was more for buildings, my bad  :P

Sounds good, reminds me i still need to finish a bike i did a while ago :S needs a rider! be sure to post pics when its finished!

If you want any 3d printing or casting - drop me a line :D I can do most objects at Z 25microns res now for a competative price ;D

No secret that i love heroquest and other cliche fantasy games ;D And i managed to get a game over easter which was great fut, but what ticks me off is how all the pieces slide over the board with the slightest nudge! Arrgh! Frustration! Plus the scenery in heroquest is dodgy cardboard or detail-less plastic...
So its time to fix this problem and create something quality for the dungeon!

So armed with a graphics tablet and a spare evening, i created a replacement door set. Here are some pics fresh from the printer. (Sorry about the blue tint, camera doesnt like taking photos inside the UV cure box ... my eyes dont like it much either to be honest...)

Closed Door

Open Door

One print artifact at the top of the door >.< dont know why its doing that, think its a hardware problem. Bit ill clean that up once i do a resin master. Ignore the support structure under the door!

Im going to cast these in bronze for that extra weight, and do a rubber lazer cut grip to stick on the bottom of each door (like under your mousemat) so no more slippy doors!

Looks like a good start :D Helmets are coming along nicely.
Although if thats Blender, there are a few too many boolean operands going on :P Booleans should be a last resort really, since they screw with your topology, smoothing groups, and make it a nightmare to apply UVS if you are wanting to texture things later.
If i could make one suggestion, keep things quads where possible - its going to make your life a lot easier when you think about adding sub-D, smoothing and its easier to make changes if you want to modify something, if it has a nice quad edgeflow. Its trickier to do and model, but its a good habit to get into ;D

Any plans for future bits?

Nice selection of entries ;D Like lionclaw's "power hand" - is that a sculpted hand or some bitz?

Would be nice ;D I think that is the holy grail stage for all mini companies - perhaps we will take a few more steps towards that in a few months time, then we can start turning out more releases since im giving up the dayjob!

Love it, some very nice weathering. Should have a go with salt weathering sometime, would compliment the sponge really well IMO :D
Style reminds me of the MaK stuff.

I do agree that Riptide model has a very big blind spot....

At any point will Zealot be making its product range more stand-alone?
Hmm, in what sense? Legs? :P
If anything ever comes of the myriad of collaborated universes Sotek and I have done, we're going to poke you to make models for us. ;)
Always good to work with some fresh background materials. I remember doing an initial sculpt for a confederacy of malan marine project we had on here a while ago, that was good fun. (albeit done with epoxy putty before i started digital).
