Carnifex/Dreadnought Size Comparison
« on: January 10, 2015, 08:29:51 PM »
Well, it's been a while! After getting back in to Dawn of War I've got back into Warhammer, but a combination of being too lazy to learn several editions worth of rules and also not being a 14 year old, this time round I'm far more interested in doing a good job on the hobby side of things than the actual game. Managed to get £160 worth of Chaos stuff of ebay for about £60 and have always loved Khorne so I'm definitely going World Eaters. Already planned out my Defiler-styled-as-a-Brass-Scorpion conversion (original ::)) but I'm looking at creating a Blood Slaughterer. My idea is a Carnifex/Maleceptor body, or maybe a Maulerfiend body, and defiler legs. The Forgeworld page shows the Slaughterer compared to a dreadnought but I don't know if a Carnifex/Maulerfiend body would be big enough and don't want to spend a large amount of money to find out. Does anybody have a carnifex/maulerfiend/dreadnought and could make a comparison for me?

The Maulerfiend, being a Chaos Model, might be a better start, especially considering it is larger than a Dreadnought:

The Maleceptor might work, if you were willing to put the Time and Green Stuff into turning it from organic to machine.

The thing is that a Maulerfiend is only £7 cheaper than a Slaughterer, so I assume that you basically just want a model that is more unique to you? Which is fantastic, and can easily be chalked up to Chaos being, well, Chaos.

Defiler Legs could potentially be too big, so maybe the smaller legs from the Necron Tryarch Stalker model might be a better, closer to original model, bet. But as its your own conversion, the Defiler legs could easily work :)

As an aside, try and break up what your posting. Walls of text make for a dull read :P But regardless, good to see you snooping around the forum again ;)

A Maulerfiend body and head etc. I can get for £12!  :P But yes, I'm really in it for the fun of conversion and to me, a well done conversion is infinitely better than a forgeworld model.

Wasn't even aware of the Stalker but the legs look like they could be perfect, so thank you!

Haha sorry! It's been a while and I never thought of the formatting :P

Cheers, it seems pretty quiet these days?

I look forward to seeing your conversion, and a project log is always a nice addition ;)

I keep up with GWs model releases, not so much the rules these days :P That and I have some uses for a select number of Necron models in future, so i'm watching what they get.

You'll get back into posting again, at least so long as you keep posting :P
