Ravager Zero

I'm posting the info in the thread for now, but any specialist or secret info will be relegated to PM.

For those of you wondering why I'm rolling 2d20 for these checks, the first is to determine success, the second is to determine the degree of success. Remembering here that you want those rolls to be high. Rolling higher than the appropriate stat (mental for info gathering) grants success. The second roll is how successful (or not) you are if you pass/fail the first roll. Low is bad, high is good once again. Jayne lucked out, Mabbz, unfortunately not.

The Man They Call Jayne

So with the success, is that rolled against our stat aswell? Pass and get full info, fail and only get basic? Or is it more along the lines of, the higher you roll the more you get? 0 - 5 is the basics 6 - 10 is slightly detailed 11 - 15 is detailed and 16 - 20 is everything they know kinda thing?

The latter. Degree of success is independent of any stats. And that's a good rough guide there. Exact numbers will change depending on the skill required for the task, and the difficulty in getting it right. ;)

Oh, and Jayne, you do know Galithir left the tavern to talk to the innkeeper, right? (the inn is an adjacent building).

It seems my character is more and more becoming the tall, dark, handsome silent type. :P Mostly cause I'm on a different time to you guys. ::)

That's alright. I'm apparently playing the suspicious peacemaker. :P Besides, you're on at the same time as the GM, that can work for you. You have more time to analyse info and make choices. :)

I also have had bad timing, plus people are mostly ignoring me... :shifty:

Although, it must be said, one should always have a Fantasy in

The Man They Call Jayne

Mabbz

I seem to be a good (or at least neutral) aligned person that gets angry when people assume I'm evil (or poncy). I admit my choice of clothing doesn't particularly help, but I like it. Maybe I should buy a suit...

It just occured to me that I walked out of the tavern with one of their mugs. Whoops ::)

InsaneTD

I'm in the tavern with you guys. Or where ever it was we were meeting.

Ravager Zero

I shall make a post for the start of chapter 1 in short order.

I was waiting for Mkoll to make his big post before moving you guys along (he promised me a good post, and he seems to have delivered, despite some misnaming of the gods: Seiya, and Kyron. ;))

Rest assured that there will be more combat and more mystery in this chapter. ;D

And on that note, combat will be resolved by a system I term "three-rounds-rapid". You lot PM me a set of 3 actions each, and make a matched pair of D20 rolls for each, and depending on how everyone's (including your opponents) rolls pan out, I describe the entire melee. ie: You tell me what you wanna hit, and roll the dice, and I tell you how hard you hit (or not), and the damage done.

If anyone has any problems with that, or wishes to recommend a different system, please speak up.

Narric

Sorry for my short absense.

Hit my monthly allowance, but its sorted now :)

Haven't yet checked the Main thread, so no spoilers.

So a simple example would be:

"Ja'nus cast 3 fireballs at the at the [insert bad guys here]"

(13,17)
(14,6)
(5,20)

Like that?

Glad you liked it. :) As for the names of the gods, names change over time. Odin started off as Wotan after all. ;)

Combat system seems pretty solid to me. :)

Essentially, yes. ;)

@Mkoll: Yes, that's true. I thought Odin was more of a westernisation though.

He started as Wotan in Germany. That's pretty far west as it is. :P Also, Freya started as Frigga. Though admittedly that probably changed when "frig" was seen as swearing in some parts. ::)
