Harlequins Are HERE
« on: January 28, 2015, 02:56:01 am »
Hi All,
Just FYI for those of you who may not know, but Harlequins are BACK.

Right now, they've put out info on the Solitaire (beastly, with nice rules and stats; WS9 BS9 moves 12" ignores terrain and for a turn can ignore all models and get 10 attacks) and the Troupe.

No info yet on the codex, but they're all nicely priced with a Harlie about the same price as a Marine and the Solitaire less than 150.

Improved kisses (one additonal S6 AP2 hit), with the option for old school rending on 6's to hit, 1d3 S6 HoW hits, AP2 fleshbane pistols and fusion pistols on EACH MODEL.  Yes, they still have flip belts, furious charge and Hit and Run.

Add to it that there's a new transport and a lot of hidden bits still hidden away, this could be a big, big release.

Just when I thought it was going to be a bland year...

Best,
-BT

Oh this sounds promising - it's a shame I sold my harlequins recently!

If the Shadowseer is the same as it was once upon a time then harlequins will now be a very difficult bunch to stop. Though I assume it'll be more like the current shadowseer in which case Harlies will die quite easily. (Though one assumed the Solitaire has some improved abilities so as to stay alive longer).

You really don't have to release a whole lot for a Harlequin release to be fairly big. :P

I'm more curious to see if they expand the Harlequin range to include units from the old 2nd ed codex.

Well all the eldar verities have been expensive glass hammers and don't the leaked dataslates attest to that! I mean ap2 fleshbane flamers? Up to 12 fusion pistols? 4th edition rending? Potentially 36 strength 6 hammer of wrath attacks ON TOP of the 49 furious charge regular ones? I mean that is at its most expensive wow DAMN! If it weren't for overwatch I would just surrender to all that, and we don't know what the Black Library things are, transport options do or the warlod traids.

Speaking of which, the potential of the solitaire..... my Dark Eldar totting GF has been drooling all over these.

I'm looking forward to the possibility that Eldar MIGHT assault something in this day and age.

Am I the only one seeing some sort of wrist-mounted whip weapon amongst the weapon pictures?

It's great that they are being separated from regular Eldar forces once again.  They really don't belong as an add-on in an Eldar codex.  The downside will be balance.  They're a very difficult force to balance correctly.

As long as they have some kind of way to get into assault, then they'll be great.
Even if they're not, I'll get a unit for my Archon to run with.  Assuming that is that they'll be allies with Eldar/DEldar...

I hope they keep the Death Jester and the Shadowseer.

Hmm... interesting...  The Solitaire seems to be an elite choice.  Who's the HQ then?

Having a Solitaire as an HQ wouldn't have made sense, as they've always been independent specialists, not commanders.

They can still be an HQ, but just not an IC.

So how do we go about our HQ for a Harlequins force if the Solitaire isn't a HQ choice?

I'm not really sure on the new army section symbols... it was a lot easier when it simply said "HQ", "Elites" etc rather than having a symbol.

So long as a Formation or another Force Organization Chart comes along, an HQ isn't necessary.  The Inquisition does not rely on Troops.  The Imperial Knights, Assassins, and Legion of the Damned have no HQs or Troops.

The Silkweavers look interesting. Kind of like Dark Eldar Reavers, combined with SM Attack Bikes.

Are we talking from a rules perspective or a background perspective?  I was referring to the narrative, so we may be talking at cross purposes here.
