First of the Community Voting polls for the monthlies ^_^

We have backers for 5 fairly different contests. So lets see what the community really wants to do ;)

For the House Rules, feel free to put forward sugestions for what you would like House Rule'd. We could do another Character Creation Contest, or maybe re-do an existing unit again. I personally don't think it would be fair to do a House Rule Codex in less than a month, so no suggesting that people ;)

That said, we shall only reveal the votes at the end of January, that way people won't just vote for the popular thing :P

Happy choosing ^_^

gorlak

I voted for one I found extremely interesting, so hope everyone shares my likes :P

But what is meant by "Armies on Parade"? Is it just a general photo of your army or?

"Armies on Parade" is something I believe GW started. Not only do you have a full army (following FOC) to show, but a suitable 2x2" or 2x4" section of battlefield to display them on, often showing strategic or cinematic placement of the units, vehicles and monsters of the force.

For examples, simply throw "Armies on Parade" into Google images ;)

If you gave a two month deadline, I'd be up for a create a codex contest  :D

For more minor house rule competitions, I would suggest "Create a Unit", maybe from a specific part of the FOC like "Create a Fast Attack Unit". Or "Create a Terrain Piece/Fortification". Or if you do a conversion competition to create a brand new model, the you could have a contest to write rules for them.

Narric

Maybe "Create a Codex" could be a Summer Contest deallie :P

I like the Slot specific idea, but using 40k FOC names would/could potentially limit it. However, we could try "Create a Warlord" as that would give people plenty of reference for what a Warlord would be and hopefully wouldn't stick it to a single game system.

Creating rules based on a Model would be interesting, and could easily be done with several Non-GW models and kits, meaning people don't have to make rules based on something they've made themselves. For instance, their is plenty of Zealot, Puppets War and Mad Robot kits and units that can all use some Rules.

GW's armies on parade does not require you to adhere to FoC.

What is Scavanger Narric?

Narric

OH really? I always assumed FOC adherence...

Scavenger is kinda like a Bitz Box Bash contest, accept the model doesn't have to be game legal. Just look cool and/or interesting. Like a Space Marine with Tyranid Arms (Genestealer Cult?) or a Tau fire Warrior with a Boltgun and IG banner for a cape :P To give examples ;)
Is that ok? :)

Deraj

Is there a limit to greenstuff on the scavenger one, and should it be left unpainted like with some conversion contest or painted?

Narric

I'd say GS should be for Gap Filling primarily. If you've scuplted an entire model, tis not exactly scavenged ;)

Personally I want to say unpainted, but if others have a different opinion, they can easily voice it here ^_^

Jonagon

Should we set a rough %?

Like, no more than 25% by volume can be Greenstuff.

That way you can still sculpt a limb which might be fun.

You could require the normal array of photos (unpainted), but allow a single painted photo as well satisfying the usual size requirements?

Yeah that was what I thought then... I don't really see it as a good competition for a month long format. You can't really paint up an army, but I guess you could go all in on a awesome display board perhaps?

I dunno... Would probable push me into making a display board, so perhaps we should run it! :D

Narric

Perhaps we could have Armies on Parade contest as something for later in the year? Perhaps around July?

gorlak

Perhaps that could be a solution - would give people a lot of time to get it ready in time (but, of course they won't :P)

Or perhaps late summer, I know I usually get a lot of stuff painted up over the summer vacation.

Chris

Army on Parade doesn't necessarily need to be a new army. (Or at least I'd guess), It could just be part of your current army displayed in a particular way...

I mean, some of us may be able to recognise each others work, but I'm sure we're all mature enough to not resort to school yard favouritism...
