Hi all,

My local has decided to host a 4K Doubles tournament, with an anything-goes approach to allowing Stronghold Assault, Escalation and Forge World. This is the first time we've done this, and as a test-of-the-water it should be interesting.

I'm teaming up with an Enclaves player who will be contributing the other 2K of our 4K allotment. We both decided that the Superheavies available weren't really worth chasing, and we'd pick up the slack by other means. Here's my list:

HQ: 285

Aun'va (100)

Shas'O Vorcah (185)
Dual Missile Pods, Shield Gen, Target Lock
Iridium Armour, PEN

Troops: 466

10 Fire Warriors (90)

12 Fire Warriors, Devilfish (188)

12 Fire Warriors, Devilfish (188)

Fast Attack: 272

6 Pathfinders X2 (132)

2 Tetras X2 (140)

Elites: 641

3 Crisis Suits (261)
Shas'vre, MSSS, C&CN, Drone Controller
Dual Missiles, Target Lock
Dual Missiles, Target Lock
6 Marker Drones

Riptide (190)
Ion Acc, Fusion, EWO

Riptide (190)
Ion Acc, Fusion, EWO

Heavy Support: 336

Longstrike Hammerhead (190)
Disruption Pods, Submunitions

2 Broadside Battlesuits (146)
HYMP, SMS, ATS

I've opted to cheese out a little with two Riptides, as it's that sort of scene. Normally it's one maximum for me, and I have fun throwing him into combat.

They Devilfishes will be Reserved, as well as the footslogging team depending on the opponent. Aun'va will be in a Void Shield Generator my teammate will be taking, as he can move into it Turn One and buff the whole army's Leadership, as well as give us a handy bubble for 6+ FNP and Storm of Fire.

The Broadsides will be in a team dedicated to chewing up basic Infantry. I have no idea what to expect as many Nids players have hinted that they're planning on simply swarming the table with gribblies, while other players at likely to go for the big toys. The Crisis team will be joined by O'Vorcah, who will provide cover to them and tank what fire he can, LoS-ing risky Wounds to the Drones.

My teammate is bringing a lot of anti-armour Fusion teams to tackle the bigger stuff, my main portion is holding the backfield and chewing up gribblies, with some Marker support and AA fire as needed.

Any thoughts and criticisms welcome!

If you are looking for a touch of cheese, and you are allowed to proxy a little bit, take an XV107 R'Varna from Forgeworld instead of your Riptide. It is devestatingly powerful and hard to kill. The rules are still availiable in pdf form as well.

The new R'varna rules are very lackluster though, IMO.

That, and we're still tentatively moving on to Forge World. Experimental stuff like that is definitely out of the question.
