So, I figured that even if it doesn't go anywhere, that maybe I should keep a record/blog/plogg going of the models I'm making from scratch. I could use it as blog material, but I don't think I have anything of real substance yet. :P

So far I've started four models:
- Salamander
- Fire Goblin
- Arachnid Knight
- Human

Here are the initial "Armatures" for the models (left-right; Salamander, human, Fire Goblin, AK):

I've managed to put some time into them, giving them some more bulk. (left-right; Salamander, Fire Goblin, Kinght, Human)

I'm mostly using these as practice for model making in general. Its slow, to tell the truth :P

Critism and Suggestions would be most appreciated ^_^

Narric

Update already :P

Decided there was a lot of lumpy GS on a couple guys, so I took  a hobby knife to them:

For the most part, they look a lot closer to how I want them, though closer to the base, the wire does get uncovered. Hopefully, when I find more time, I'll be able to include more detail.

In the mean time, I started another model, and its a lot larger than the previous lot:

Yep, thats my first attempt at a Spider Armature. I foresee the spiders giving me the most trouble :P The two front Claws are raised up on purpose, and it should hopefully becoe clear why when I get some GS on to the wire.

Critism and Suggestions would be most appreciated ^_^

Will's on Fire

The framework for the spider is sweet! Looking like a good starting point for the rest. Looking forward to seeing more.

The Framework for the Spider would be sweet, if the result would be a spider. Based on some quickly done concept art based on the wireframe, the result would appear more akin to an ant then spider.
I think I'll be doing the spider predominatly frameless, as its less likely to create unwanted results.
I won't be disposing the Wireframe. Maybe I could do Ant Mounts for the Fire Goblins? :P

Unfortunately I haven't done much modeling :( The Greenstuff and models are in front of me always, but I keep distracting myself from it.

There are a few tools and items I think would make it easier, but unfortunately I can't purchase them until next weekend :P

Will's on Fire

It might make a good scorpion? :P

Narric

Oh great, now to consider where in my little universe a Giant Scorpion could go :P

Dwarves mounted on Bears?

Narric

Managed to get some work done that I feel I can show. I've been focused on getting the Spider right.

to give an idea of size, the central body bulb is about 1cm across.

Adding GS to enlarge the thorax and to sculpt the face is going to be an absolute bitch :P

Narric

Sorry for the lack of update to this ^_^;;

Been trying to do a fully miniature in Sketchup 8. You've probably seen my complaining about aspects of it :P

Here is an older WIP picture:
Spoiler

I have since continued with the legs, and with some retrospect, decided to redo the upper arms to fit with the rest of the model.

Front
Side

And yes, this will be a fully multi-part model. The head is rotatable, and the arms and legs are ball & socket. I'm wondering how to do the lower. Such as whether to do three pairs of specialised lower arms, Ranged:Melee:Fist/Hand or make the lower arms and Hands/Weapons seperate pieces.

What remains to be done?:
- Arms (Upper, Lower, and Hands/Weapon)
- Feet
- Power Pack

Thanks for Reading

Comments and critism welcome.

Narric

I'm starting work on the lower arms, but I'd like some input for what weapons would be preferred.

I could easily go the route of mimicking Tau Empire Battlesuit weapons, but I'd prefer to have an original weapon idea. Even to use as a basic design.

Narric

Posting somewhere esle than RP, Rumours or Enclave :P

So I've been working on a thing. This thing is a Frigate. For Space. It has a big gun.

I pretty much designed this as I went along. Really proud of it.

Learnt a few neat things about Sketchup whilst making this.

Up next is a "Dreadnought" ship. Use Gun, and if that don't work, use more gun.

Railgun Convention

Is that what I think it is? Because it looks like a ship-sized railgun with various bits of... well, ship, built around the edges.
So how many crashes have I survived now?

Narric

Maybe :P

Now that you say it, I see it too XD

My thoughts was essentially a Large main weapon, on a single Frigate.

Narric

Here is the next ship. This is intended as a Dreadnought class.

Practically a scaled-up version of the frigate, with double fire-power. :P

Railgun Convention

If you fire one gun at a time, would that spin it round slightly?

Something else I was thinking of - why does nobody build spaceships in such a way that everything is focussed around the center of mass? Any chance you could do a similar design where the rest of the ship was moved from the end to the middle of the main core?

Uhm...

Can I have a vizual reference to what the heck you just said? :P And do you mean the Frigate or the Dreadnought?

I'd assume they'd fire both guns at once.

Also, if only one gun fires (perhaps becuase the other has been damaged) all they need to do is adjust the output of the engines on the same side.
