Forgot to do it when I put the post up, but I've edited your morning health rolls into the overnight post.

Oan could probably use some more attention though. ;)

Rav: Economic help you say? Of what nature? I've currently no internet at home, but that just means I've more time to work on things and post them up when I'm done. :)
I've sent you a PM on the subject. Hopefully you can make some sense of my ramblings.

Also, would it be feasible that as a son of a noble I would know/know of some of the nobles in Darrow? Could open a couple of short side-quests to amuse some of us while Tybalt's forging and earn us a bit of coin or a favour we can call in. ;)
Yes, it would be, depending on where Oan hails from, of course.

And should anyone purchase an atlas or almanack of the world in Darrow, I have a nice big map for them

Huzzah, a companion. Hope not EVERYONE is going to be a mage of some kind though :P We need A Tank and someone to do the heavy lifting :P

Q:

Is there a set list of spells for each of the Schools, or do we simply say "We want to do X" and the GM determines how successful it is?
The latter. Essence based magick is fairly free-form. There are some named spells, or spells based on various gestures and invocations, but those are the exception rather than the rule. Think of it as being similar to the way biotics are trained in the ME series. The gestures aren't necessary, but form a link between thought, action, and effect.

I don't know if there's any class modifiers for a Ranger equivalent, or if there's a difference between Rangers and normal fighters in this setting, but that's what I'd like my character to be.
No class modifiers. It just means you use different weapons, and have better wilderness skills than the average fighter. ;)

My character (not listed here, I PM'd him to rav) is a fighter. And very good at protecting, since I sense waves of grunts coming after the wizards who will need some defense.
You can, and probably should post your character up here, just so everyone knows who to thank when they don't die in a big-ass brawl. :P

Works for me. :)

I'll modify my equipment as is made necessary once I've confirmed things with you Rav. :)

So, 1 Ranger, 1 Tank and 2 Mages. Anyone else feel like they're in the standard Dragon Age party so far? :P

Oh, I have a request as well. If one of the mages could take Runecrafting knowledge or something it would really help me. It seems that to give a ranged weapon increased armour penetration the runes need to be on the ammo, not the weapon. A cheaper supply would really help me keep up with the rest of the party in terms of advanced gear when we start getting it. :)

I already have a "Special Skill" in the form of Intervention. So i'm assuming Galithier will have to take Runecrafting. Unless its a skill that Mages just have?

My character:

Name: Marcus Flynn
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Physical Description: 5'11", 175 pounds, very fast, but still decently strong.
Personality/Bio: Marcus comes from a long line of warriors, his father and his before him being mighty soldiers. Because of this, he has strong natural instincts when it comes to battle. He is used to taking on multiple enemies at once, and is excellent at defending positions or people after years of protecting his village. He is very entrenched in doing what is right, and distrusts those without honor.
My rolls:

15-1d8 ? [15,-6] = (9) Physical
15-1d8 ? [15,-3] = (12) Mental
15-1d8 ? [15,-2] = (13) Mystical

Equipment:
Targe shield: a leather and wood shield with a 5" iron spike at the center, for both offense and defense.
leather armor: light but strong, for maximum maneuverability and endurance.
short bow: Designed for hunting game, effective for hunting raiders.
Poisoned tipped arrows: For taking down the big stuff.
Steel broadsword: 3' of slashing might.
Warhammer: For smashing skulls and cracking jaws.
Steel dagger: can be thrown in a pinch, but best for up close or quiet.

Obviously a warrior. My expectation is we are gonna have a lot of wizards who need a bit of close up protection.
My guy. i envision him with broadsword in one hand, warhammer in the other, targe strapped to his arm, cutting down waves of weak enemies, while you mages take out the big stuff and get all the credit. :shifty:

Runecrafting/Runesmith is a special kind of magick combining the various canticles with the art of blacksmithing. Runesmith are rare and highly valued people, so it is unlikely they would go adventuring on such a possibly dangerous quest. If a Chaosigan (true chaos mage) were to join the group, it might be possible for that person to have apprentice or even journeyman training in the art of runecrafting.

The party so far

1. Ja'nus Faeyon (Jayne)
2. Galithir (Mabbz)
3. Oan Fencer (Mkoll)
4. Marcus Flynn (ShasOcho)
5. Tybalt Defet (TD)
6. Zothern Cabreil (Narric)

So there's one slot left if anyone else is interested. I'll keep this open until Friday night (GMT+13), and then we'll be starting. Anyone that wishes to join after that point will have to wait until the party reaches an appropriate point in the story.

Narric, do you have any magick, or is the mystical stuff just some basic knowledge of those Canticles?

Also, looks like we're full up. I'll get the prologue/starting post up in a day or so.

Basic Knowledge.

I thought it might be a useful "Background" skill, incase the parties resident Magick expert is unavailabe.

Mabbz

So to summarise, we have:

Ja'nus, a humble mage that specialises in pyromancy and geomancy,

Galithir, a vengeful illusionist and novice necromancer,

Oan, a ranger with some miscellaneous other fighting skills,

Marcus, a tough close quarters fighter,

Tybalt, a runesmith who is handy with a rifle,

and Zothern, a fighter with some basic magick skills and a tendency to rush into things.

Correct me if you think that summary is a bit off.

If we're doing special skills like that, my background seems to impy mine would be speechcraft and psychology. Fortunately, we already have a runesmith. Also, my name is Galithir, not Galithier. I thought I should correct you now before it becomes a habit.

Narric

Sounds like a fairly take-on-all-comers quest party IMO :P

Scout Sergeant Mkoll

In light of your last PM Rav I've decided to drop the rifle for now and use the runic bow idea.

Gifted to him by the gamekeeper who trained Oan, who was ex-army, to commemorate the completion of his training on his 16th birthday this dual-string bow is enhanced by runes of accuracy. To this day Oan has never missed his target with this bow, whether it be stationary targets on a practice range, picking off his mark in a herd of deer, or selecting his target in the skirmishes he was involved in while in the local militia.
