Wonderful! Im very happy that GW are releasing something that expands the 40k universe again, rather than just another non-fluffy out of place marine flyer or unit that should never exist.
Love these models and i cant wait to see what other units are in the army. Combined with the FW pieces, could be a nice force!

Yes.

Yes!

YES!!!

I want those Skitaari, they look great. Less sure about the Ironstriders, they look a little cluttered to my me, but I'm sure I'll be able to do some conversions with these. I'm assuming this mean the AdMech are getting a codex, which is pretty flawless timing since I just got a job. Now I'm just worried GW will screw it up somehow. I wonder what horror of failed aerodynamics will come with this lot.

Also, apparently the Ironstriders are nearly perpetual motion machines. Could they not have just made something cool that doesn't violate the laws of physics? Plausibility isn't a bad thing, GW!

Wow, and I think this will really fit well into the Forgeworld stuff too, recent releases have made me consider more involvement in 40k. I mean that rumour about sisters is looking more plausible with each release. (Although there's nagging in my head - another human faction?)

Mate, I think the basic weaponry  fluff attests to this. I mean there's basic laser guns, bullet pushers and platma bolts at the end of linear accelerators and then you have semi-automatic mini RPGs, half living guns that project a monomolecular blade, a ray that disassembles layer by atomic layer, a amp that projects grvatons, an anti air weapon with each missile containing a fucking brain, a gun that shoots black holes, etc - I think the wisdom of hitting something with a high velocity piece of metal is lost, moving around on legs shouldn't be allowed to be that simple either.

I do understand that, but it's more the fact they keep on drawing attention to it. Everyone knows 40k is a fantasy setting with barely any connection to the laws of physics, yet they keep pointing out "This things so awesome, it's physically impossible!" It just strikes me as unnecessary to point it out. Anyway, they could have just said it was too advanced to comprehend, rather than screwing with a fundamental law for the sake of Rule of Cool.

Breaking physics to allow your fictional creation is easy. Making it work within the laws is more impressive to me.

I think you missed my tone, I was more agreeing with your initial statement than anything else than trying to defend the description :P

Oops, looking back at your post, that seems obvious now.

Also, I did some looking around and apparently the rumour is that there will be a smallish Codex: Skitaari, followed by a larger Codex: Adeptus Mechanicum. Seems a little unnecessary to me.

Admech troopers look pretty cool. I can't help but feel the Fantasy Empire Master Engineer (http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Empire-Master-Engineer) and State Handgunners (http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Empire-State-Handgunners) played a part in the units look in terms of weaponry.

The Striders are only really cluttered at the top. I can see them being used as Sentinal stand ins by some enthusiastic guards players. The Sydonian Dragoon by description just makes me think the Imperium are copying Eldar Shining Spears. And as a close quarters weapon that lance is highly impracticle and the height of the rider means that he should technically not be able to hit anything with even a standard combat sword.

They're a bit early for April's fools aren't they?
