I set up a narrative game with someone at my LGS in Westboro Ma, The Whiz. We wanted to link a kill team game to a 1000 point game, but the store closed early due to it being the holidays. We were able to get the kill team game in, and below is the fluff we came up with before the game started, which gave the game a lot more meaning. We went back and forth writing the background leading up to the game a few days prior. If you don't like fluff skip to the game, otherwise I hope you enjoy.

Official planet designation: Vectis Secundus
Tithing: Adeptus Minisorum

History: Victis Secundus is the second world inhabited around the blue star Vectis Silirum, originally designated as a mining world of the Adeptus Mechanicus, it contained only a small population, however following an incursion onto Vectus Prime in 543M38 the population of that world deemed un-corrupted (352,213, aprox 0.000006509% of the original population) was relocated., They and their descendants were placed into 5,000 year servitude to pay for their debt for the war and relocation. In 942M40 the mineral wealth of the world decreased to the point on in-viability to the Adeptus Mechanicus, at which time the Adeptus Ministrorum expressed an interest in the world as a munitions storeworld. The Priesthood of Mars agreed to the transfer on the condition they maintain a sovereign research facility on the world, and the Minisotrum would provide the raw materials needed for their research.

The world has no permanent garrison, after the events on Vraks begun in 813M41 the sector MJinisotrum officials requested a rotating garrison from several chapter of Adeptus Astartes and Imperial Guard Battalions. Currently a small force of Ultramarines and a single battalion from the Death Korps of Krieg garrison the world.

The Krooza shook violently, turbulence in the warp or a broadside from an Imperial cruiser no one could tell from inside the belly of Big Big Trukk, the flagship of the Wamp Gataz armada. Meksnikk, the smarter of the three brother Warbosses, looked up annoyed while his camouflage pants absorbed the grog beer that was spilt by one of the newest Nobs at the poker table. Instead of reaching for a towel or rag he quickly unholstered his slugga and put a round in the clumsy Ork's head. His greedy hands then swept the deaparted's pile of teef to his ever-growing stash. He peered around to see if any of the other Nobs disapproved; of course they didn't. He dumped it into his money sack and stood.

The Warboss figured his presence was needed on the bridge after that massive tremor. He couldn't blame Two-teef for spilling his beer, but those were his favorite pants, and no one messes with Meksnikk. He wove through the maze of corridors and walked onto the bridge, which was a flourish of activity. Grots and meks alike dashed form console to console trying to get the fleet's bearings. They had just come out of warpspace.

"Wez got ships a comin Boss!!" One of the mek engineers yelled. Meksnikk looked down on the console and with the swipe of his hand a dozen or more Space Marine vessels were highlighted red, the Ork fleet outnumbered them 3:1 and were highlighted in lucky blue. He dragged the icons of his ships to each of the vessels he wanted them to attack, and the invasion began.

Electricity surged through the walls of the ship, and sparks could be seen leaping from the walls to choppas, armor, and tools as the plasma cannon charged. They had ripped it off a titan on Yeldi Prime, and Finkaboy had the bright idea to mount it to the Krooza. Meksnikk was skeptical, but the Big Mek was a whiz with his tools, and had built Big Big Trukk with spare parts from their homeworld Planet Muck so many years ago. The ship rocked as a ball of plasma as wide as a battlewagon shot through space toward one of the escort vessels. Meksnikk grinned as one more red blip disappeared. Not that the red ones were the only ones going out; at least 15 Ork ships were now wrecks (no matter we'll just make more) he thought. Glancing out the deck window he saw the newest one to meet that fate. Another Krooza, Da Golden Toof, imploded when the reactor went critical after a direct torpedo strike.

Big Big Trukk bucked and sirens erupted while lights started flashing. "Boss, Beakies been spotted in da back ov da ship. Must be boardin parties," a nervous grot reported.

"Excellent, the Beakies want to play rough." Meksnikk walked over to the talky-talk and squeezed the side button. "Dakkanutz dis is Meksnikk. We got beakies comin in near da launch bays, grab some boyz and get down dere and take care ov'm. I'm headed down to da ground to show dem how da Wamp Gataz roll".

Combat Insertions: Sergeant Quintus hated them, too manyh factors were out of his control. Stuck in a metal tube, hurling through the void toward an Ork Kroozer and praying to the Emperor that no Ork gunner got a lock on the boarding torpedo. He wondered if this was anything like what the mortals called fear?
His thoughts were interrupted by the monotone voice of the savant servitor pilot, "incoming fire....initiating evasive protocol Sigma 7." The torpedo lurched hard to one side then another as the craft moved to avoid the greeskin gunners.

Quintus activated his box link, "Allright it's clear the Orks have detected us, one more time before we hit." Looking down the squad rune markers he stopped at the squads newest member Geta. He had moved up from 2nd company just prior to this posting, and the timing proved to be a mixed blessing; the 2nd company contingent was a comfort for Geta, but it might also hold him back from bonding with his new squad."
"Geta....theoretical"

"The new veteran looked up, "sir, the Ork is a tougher bastard, hard to put down, harder to keep down. Maximum firepower, torso, head. Torso first to make headshot easier."

"Crassus...practical" The sgt looked to see what his longtime squad member would say.

"Without hesitation Crassus looked up, "The Ork is tough as nails if it gets in close, and they count on swamping you. So kill it at range, and for thrones sake watch your ammo count."

Alarm filled the torpedo and the servitor announced, "Torpedo 3 destroyed." Then a few seconds later, "prepare for impact."

Quintus swore under his breath, this just got a lot harder. "Alright you heard it, Theta squad is gone, that's going to make our job harder. Without the sentry guns and Theta tactical, it will be extremely difficult to hold the Orks back."

Suddenly the deceleration thrusters fired; the whole squad was thrown forward in their grav-harnesses, melta charges at the head of the torpedo burnt through the outer hull of the cruiser and a few seconds later the torpedo doors opened to the heat of molten metal. The squad emerged into the Ork ship. "Ok, you know your missions.....Go!"

Dakkanutz's ear talky talk blared to life and almost made the nob deaf. He grabbed the side of his head and winced, the static echoing in his cavernous head. "Wez found da Beakies. Dey back in da halls near da hangar bay," one of the commandos reported. Many a foe have perished underestimating the cunning an Ork can exibit. Once the torpedoes had been spotted Meksnikk order every kommando in the ship to find an ambush them.

"How many Beakies you see? I grabbed my boyz and Fingle and his grots."

A loooong pause started to irritate the nob as he lead his team to the rear of the ship through the tight passageways. "Not sure," was all the kommando could come up with.

"Are there more or less than your fingers and toes?" Dakkanutz expected a long wait this time, but chuckled to himself as he pictured the kommado taking off his boots and holding his feet in the air to count his toes, probably incorrectly too.

"Don't need my toes, dere are less than my fingers, and I'm missing one."

Dakkanutz grinned; must be some really good fighters he thought if a handful of them thought they'd take over a ship full of hundreds of Orks. Should be a good fight then, maybe enough to earn a power claw. "Ok, I see a couple of dem. Light'm up from behind and we'll come in da front."

The Orks fanned out to cover all the entrances to the hangar bay and the boyz and gretchin alike racked rounds in their shootas and blastas. A mechanical voice could be heard from behind a pair of kans,"Orks spotted engage." The halls flashed as bolters let loose with their explosive rounds.

Mission 5 Secure the High Ground
Terrain: Homemade space hulk walls to duplicate an Ork krooza interior
Deployment: Each team spread out at the 12" mark, with the kommandos behind the Ultramarines in the corner of the ship.

Ork deployment:

SM deployment: with kommandos in the corners behind them.

Game: Dakkanutz tried to get his boyz and grots to advance and take the beakies by surprise, but they weren't nearly as well trained. Bolter fire erupted from across the hangar bay, the smell of gunpowder permeated the cramped quarters. The usually accurate volleys must have been thrown off by the violent entry into the Krooza, because every shot missed their target or caused mere flesh wounds that were insufficient to take down a boy.

A trio of Ultramarines had taken position in the hangar, the drop ship controls in sight, while the rest of the squad held the rear hallways. "Youz underestimate my sneakiness" a cockney voice stated from the shadows a second before he opened up with his big shoota. The marines were not prepared to deal with enemies on both fronts and one of the specialists on the left flank was riddled with big shoota and slugga rounds, securing a wide open corridor for a half dozen boys who sprinted forward. The hangar bay was flooded with green skin as the grots darted behind the buggies and the shootaz branzenly stood in the open guns blazing. Another marine taking cover behind a kan lost his head with a lucky shoota shot.

First casualty taken out by slugga rounds:

#2 Marine behind the kan, (we decided to leave the dead bodies to be used as terrain)

The runtherder was torn in two, a bolter round passing through his tough body with ease. The newest member to the squad fired into the closest boy, but was shocked when it kept advancing. Dakkanutz grunted a bolter round now lodged in his abdomen; he pointed at the marine and shouted "Youz dead beakie." Meanwhile in the rear of the ship Crassus charged into melee with a pair of kommandos, beheading one and watching the second scamper away. The Sgt looked down the hall to see the kommando running towards the other boyz. His attention waned, he didn't notice the big shoota kommando round the corner and crouch behind a fallen marine. The side of his head splattered against the wall his moment of poor judgment the last decision he would make.

The death of the SGT. I passed over one Marine to have the kommando shoot at the guy with the cooler helment:

You can see the Marine that wounded Dakkanutz dead in the upper left corner:

His orky distraction was then quickly dispatched as Crassus emptied a bolt pistol mag into his back. The remaining three Ultramarines started a strategic fallback, Crassus now in command shouted, "the controls are lost peel back and evade. Covering fire dismembered a shoota boy, but two more took his place. Crassus was back to back with a brother when he saw the lethal big shoota kommando again fill an Astartes with bullets.

The Ork horde quickly closed in on the pair of Marines, another couple killed but their numbers may has well been infinite for the chances of the lone two Ultramarines surviving was basically nil. Scittering toenails could be heard approaching as a wave of grots flowed into the hall. Tiny hands held blastas, the two power armored warriors in their path. Shots were ricocheting off and flying dangerously around, One unlucky grot took a round to the face. Eventually a single round found a soft spot in Crassus's mate, and his neck gushed his life blood. (my whole objective was to have a grot kill one of the marines, and at this point in the game my opponent was routing for them too).

Last stand by the remaining two Marines: (looks hopeless doesn't it?)

Crassus threw his now empty bolter at the nearest boy, and knocked him unconscious. He pulled out his bolt pistol and reached for a frag grenade. He thought if this was his time he would take out as many xenos as possible. He never got the chance to pull the pin, round after round pelted him and instantly shut down his brain. The Orks swept the ship, and with the threat taken care of began looting the bodies and landing torpedo. One determined grot ran away with a white helmet, his peers cheering for him.

Postgame thoughts: I tried to bring what I thought was a fluffy list, but felt kind of bad gunning down a couple of Marines a turn. My opponent quickly realized that 7 bodies is not enough for a kill team mission. I think armies that can bring numbers will pretty easily take down the more elite teams people might bring.

I really enjoyed the game, and the terrain was awesome. We've agreed that the attacker/defender game needs to be played to see if the Wamp Gataz can get a foothold on the planet. Had a great time, and I propositioned the LGS owner to do a kill team tournament during February vacation.

Good to see you're still alive and kicking, and you've kept our board active too. Looks like I have a lot of battreps to read. The site I migrated to really has lackluster reports, mostly just links to Youtube videos and blogs. I always liked the way 2S users wrote their reports. Any that I write I will post up. The guy I played in this game just pm'd me the other day to set up part two, so maybe during Feb vacation I can set that up.
