Will's on Fire

After years of not drilling out barrels and not pinning models I've decided it's something I should probably be doing. So I'm now looking for something to help me do it.

The new GW one looks good, but I'm wondering if anyone has any other recommendations. Please consider the fact that I'm in the UK, so a small time US retailer probably won't be cost efficient to import. :P

I imagine it needs to fit drill bitsup to 2mm ish for small magnets and down to around 1mm I guess for paper clip pinning and barrels.

Cheers,

- Will

You should be able to find a hobby store that sells them for around £10. In my experience the previous GW Pin Vice fell apart way too easily, whilst independant Pin Vices seem to fix together more strongly, andso do not lose their grip on the bit, or the palm rest.

1mm is the smallest bit I ever found, and the pin vice grips I have allow between 1mm to 3mm. Near any DIY store should have spare Drill Bits that will work.

WHSmith bought out Modelzone not too long back, so you could always check that route. ;)

Honestly, I would fully recommend the GW one... The Drill itself is great, really comfy to use and doesn't fall apart like the old one.

Its also compatible other drill bits which you should be able to pick up cheap...

I like my GW one ive had for more years than i care to count :P
If you are feeling fancy - get a dremel

You will need an adapter chuck from ebay, like 4 quid but will allow you to use all types of drillbits not just dremmel brand ones.

I use it with some drillbits i got from Heresy.

They are all you will ever need, down to 0.5mm. My set has lasted like 5 years, furiously drilling metal and plastic :D
