Title: Dark Heresy Roleplay Thread
Post by: Waaaghpower on March 20, 2017, 07:41:06 PM
The ragtag band of escapees panted for a moment, catching their breath after the furious melee. Both prison guards who hadn't fled were dead and broken on the ground, but it was not a sign that they were safe - Only that more guards would be there soon. The little break room only showed further evidence of the melee - Dents in the wall where cheap dryrock had been crushed, spent shotgun shells on the floor, broken door behind them where they'd fled from the massacre downstairs.

Time was running short. Our intrepid heroes didn't know how long they had, but they knew that they would have to move quickly or find themselves thrown back in the cells they'd only just escaped from.

Foosteps came from behind and they all turned to watch, cautious for any further attackers. Instead of any enemy, however, they saw a humanoid form - But one concealed by robes and twisted by metal machinations. Only Tarkus recognized Scythia Harlocke, who had been held up finishing her character sheet and only then was able to join the other acolytes.

Wilhelm walks back into the prison and meets up with the gang because he ran away last session

Tarkus reacts impassively, greeting the newcomer with a plain, "It's about time you got here."

Having previous knowledge of the prison layout, Tarkus attempts to infer where the intimidated guards fled to.

(For organizational purposes, I put my desired action in parenthesis.)

Scythia takes a quick glance at the shadow clad man, "I always arrive when I intend to." Quickly she resumes a forward, piercing stare. Without further hesitation she sets off, trailed by the floating skull marked "C.S." in curved, worn calligraphy.

Upon reaching a visible data-slate, she gets to work and
HACKS
the system (with the assistance of her servo skull), attempting to shut off the lights and security systems.

With the assistance of his legs and intense acrobatic skills, and red colored outfit, Wilhelm does a sick kick-flip over the head of literally everyone in the room.He then looks at all the new faces, confused, and says "Wait what who are these guys, and are they now a part of my contract"

Unfortunately, the room was cramped and littered with debris, and while a particularly agile individual, the trick he was attempting to pull for no apparent reason was still well beyond the skill level of any reasonable individual. When trying to perform his kick-flip, he slipped and fell, landing on his back with a heavy 'Thud'.
Whilhelm makes a very difficult (-30) Acrobatics check. Roll of 80. He takes 2 wounds.

Salk pays the newcomer little attention, still annoyed at the loss of his shiv. He turns to Tarkus and asks,

"So, where did you say evidence was again? I need my stuff back."

The pole is dropped with a clang, and Lazarus takes a deep breath
That's the most excitement I've had in a long, long time.
He chuckles and nods to each individual in the room, save for the newcomer.
I am impressed with your combat prowess. I was expecting less.
I also think we should be going. Do any of you have any spare weapons, for, say, a brute like myself? Something I can use with both of my hands?

Salk trudges over to the downed guards and begins to pull the armor off one of them, followed by the shotgun.

"Nothing in my possession, no. But I'm sure one of these gentlemen is holding a club or trrencheon."

Roll - Tarkus infers where the guards have gone.
Spoiler
+10 Intelligence Check. Int 31, needs a 41 or lower.
RESULT: 57. 1 degree of failure.
"I'm not sure where they went," Tarkus says. "I think the guard station is in that direction, but I was paying closer attention to the escape routes when I looked at the map."

Roll - Scythia hacks the security system to control lights and security
Spoiler
Security Check. Int 33, Servo Skull +10, fancy text bar, needs 44.
RESULT: 80. 4 degrees of failure.
Scythia fed the wires and plugs of her servo-skull into the Dataslate port and began accessing the system, but a security protocol quickly overrode the attempt, and the screen displayed an error message signaling: UNAUTHORIZED USER DETECTED. PLEASE CONTACT SYSADMIN.

"Well. I'm not too fond of staying here for a picnic, so I'd suggest we'd better get moving."

Having revealed that his knowledge was mostly focused on escape routes, Tarkus attempts to mentally plot the easiest route out of the prison, taking care to avoid the admittedly vague ideas of guard stations.

Roll - Tarkus plots out the easiest escape route.
Spoiler
+30 Intelligence Check. Int 31, needs a 61 or lower.
RESULT: 33. 3 degrees of success.
"I know the way out," Tarkus added. "Through this door, we'll take the first right, then follow that hallway to an emergency exit. It will trigger an alarm when we leave, but it's the easiest way out of here, and should keep us clear of the guards."

Scythia calmly awaits the other's getting ready to go, and breaks into a full sprint when everyone starts filing out. She waits at the door for others before opening if she reaches it first.

Salk, now in full stolen guard gear and wielding a shotgun, follows behind, pushing the faceplate down over his face and walking with stiff, orderly steps. He aims to appear as a guard escort for prisoners should they encounter trouble and need to slip by.

"Tarkus, do you mind taking us to evidence before we depart? I'd prefer not to leave without my gear."

Scythia waits several minutes as Salk attempts to get the attention of Tarkus.

"I know the way, keep up and we should be able to stop by in time, lets go everyone"

She runs as previously planned towards evidence once everyone is behind her, then to the exit once Salk is ready

Roll - Scythia plots out the route to the equipment locker.
Spoiler
+40 Intelligence Check. Int 31, needs a 61 or lower.
RESULT: 33. 3 degrees of success.

"It's off to the left," Sythia says, as they exit, scanning the hallway for threats. Without waiting any longer, she departed into the shadows. Salk followed behind, as did Wilhelm - After a brief hesitation, at least - but the rest of the group followed after Tarkus - Most of them wanting the quick escape, but Arlo simply staying with the largest fighting force, his instincts still in control of his actions.

It took only thirty seconds for Scythia's group to get to the impound, but the door - A thin piece with a glasteel window inside - Was locked, and they couldn't enter.

Tarkus's group reached the exit at roughly the same time. The door was not apparently locked, but a large red warning sign was on the door handle reading 'EMERGENCY EXIT - ALARM WILL SOUND'.
Title: Re: Dark Heresy Roleplay Thread
Post by: Slythe64 on April 11, 2017, 11:08:35 PM
Scythia glances around to make sure they are still clear, and takes the time to look for cameras

After making sure things are clear and noting anything of interest to the other members of the group, she states with a quiet and reserved voice, "Keep watch, I'm going to get us inside."
She glances through the window, if anyone is inside she slides her free hand to her holster.
She then uses her servo skull to pick the lock, using its built in multi tools.
If the door is opened and there are hostiles inside, she quickly takes aim at the lights inside and fires. Otherwise she just flicks the switch off and enters.
After either previous condition is met, she enters and hides if there are aforementioned hostiles inside, otherwise asks for Salk to tell her where the things are stored while searching with the skull's built in flashlight.

Roll - Scythia checks for cameras.
Spoiler
Awareness Check. Per 33, needs a 33 or lower.
RESULT: 2.
Scythia glances around, almost giving the all clear, when the she catches a glimpse of a tiny reflection of light down the hall, opposite from where they had come from. It is almost invisible, veiled in shadow as it is, but the camera watching them is very real and very much watching them.

Roll - Scythia attempts to pick the lock.
Spoiler
+10 Security Check. Int 33, +5 for Servo-Skull, needs a 48 or lower.
RESULT: 11. 3 degrees of success.
Taking the time to work on the door, Scythia moves with as much speed as she can without risking failure. After a moment of jostling - Or thirty seconds, to be precise, the door pops open with a 'Click'. "We're in," she says.

Wilhelm walks into the storage room, inspecting each of the lockers and their respective locks. He walks up to a locker near the middle, and begins firing his baleful eye into the lock, in an attempt to break it. He does this to each locker after searching the contents of the last, and returning items to their proper owners. After Wilhelm locates his items, he stops opening lockers, so as to not go blind.

Salk begins the process of cracking several locks with the stock of his shotgun, intent on finding his gear, or at least some quality loot from other criminals.

"Remember gents, it's finders keepers on anything you see that isn't ours. Take what you wish, these boys won't be needing it."

The second contains one half bar of chocolate, one bunch of keys on a white metal ring, one packet of lho sticks, two plastic ball-point pens - one black, one red - one pocket tome, one address book - imitation red leather - and one white metal chrono.

The second contains

Scythia gets to work picking locks, if it takes more than a few minutes for any given lock she simply starts to saw them off with her chain blade. She also grabs anything of use to her (decided upon learning the contents).

As the others resorted to more brutish measures, Scythia knelt by a lock, working to open it smoothly and without force. The first resisted, but after some gentle ministrations with her multi-tool, she opened it to find an unloaded autopistol, several packets of an unidentified powder, and a stack of hand-written log books.

As she moved to the next locker, though, she hesitated, hearing a voice echoing down the hall from deeper in the prison.

"Down this way. Watch it, I saw one of 'em in the break room. Scary fella, about the size of a hab block."

"No more rubber rounds, then. Got it."

(18 lockers are still shut. You have opened 7, collectively.)

Tarkus raised up the butt of his autogun, smashing it into the grate of the vent. It clattered in the metal duct with a satisfying sound, leaving a gap open that was just large enough for a man to slip in.
And that's exactly what Tarkus did, grabbing the edge of the vent and crawling in. It wasn't exactly graceful, but he moved with speed and efficiency, and didn't get snagged or caught on anything.

"Quick!" One of the guards shouted. "It sounds like they're breaking something!"

Salk, sensing he was about to receive unwelcome company, pulled the helmet's face shield down over his face and sat slumped against a nearby wall. He kept his shotgun close at hand, but took care to arrange it as if it had fallen to the floor beside him.
He intended to act as though they'd overwhelmed him (a lone prison guard) and that they'd taken his keys.

Scythia runs over to salk as he begins to slump over and pulls out her chainblade, grabbing Salk and lifting him up with the chainblade against his neck, finger on the throttle. She grabs the shotgun with the other hand and holds it over his shoulder, pointed at the doorway as she stands round its corner. She ignores any screams or pleas and prepares for the oncoming guards, careful to leave his helmet down.

The guards scuttled down the hall, footsteps heard in unison. A second passed, and then one pointed his shotgun around the corner, aimed at the first target he saw, and then hesitated.

"Hold your fire!" he shouted, his voice tinny behind his faceplate, as the other two guards moved into position. One dove across the gap of the door to take up a position on the other side, and as he did, Scythia fired.

Roll - Scythia fires on the guard.
