The Man They Call Jayne

Rowan stepped up, waiting his turn. He was a skilled combatant and always thrilled at a challenge. Roland stood nearby with his weapons. He was in the mood for twin blades today. He took the Continuation and a shorter messer and Roland strapped on his chest plate.

"Very well, to arms. God be with me."

Apologies for the delay. Real life has been kind of busy lately. :P

A few opening spars between bold commoners whets the crowd's appetite, but soon enough the matches began in earnest.

Rowan found himself matched with a Knight named Arthur, whilst Pilum found his mettle tested by a brute of a northerner; six feet of pure muscle with a broad wooden shield and a warsword that looked old enough to be his grandfather's.

The ring was big enough for three bouts to take place at once. The third was taken up by a pair of squires - one of Arthur's order, the other in service to a local feudal lord.

Okay, combat!

This is simple; roll 2d6 and add your combat score. In opposed combat, both players roll. If the defender wins, he avoids the attack and becomes the attacker. If he draws or loses by one, he takes no damage but remains the defender. If he loses by 2-5 he takes a hit. Lose by 6+ and the opponent's blow draw's blood, removing you from the bout.

Artur and Pilum win the initiative for their respective bouts - they are the attackers!

The Man They Call Jayne

Squaring off at the warrior before him, Rowan decided to goad him into attacking on his terms, a few feints later and the warrior swung mightily. Rowan moved to deflect the blow with his off hand blade. . .

Pilum

Perrin didn't recognise either the name or the arms of the brute he faced. Like most northerners he looked like a good portion of pig was part of his immediate ancestry. Perrin had hunted enough boars to know that swine were still dangerous, however... Big man, old-fashioned equipment that spoke of a long legacy of war, old-style too most likely. He'd probably put all his effort into the initial rush, trying to overpower his slighter opponent. So best not to allow him that, throw him off-balance. The herald had barely finished his announcements and Perrin was already fully halfway across the ring, howling as he did so.

2d6+10: (4, 4) = 18.

Scout Sergeant Mkoll

Arthur smiled to himself as he saw his opponent. Clearly a sellsword, the man had opted for twin blades rather than a shield. An interesting choice, one which would suggest the warrior believed himself quick enough to get around a shield and good enough to not be hit before he got the chance. This would be an interesting bout.

Arthur kept his shield held high, his sword held out to his side slightly in his right hand. After a few opening attempts Arthur swung his blade in a vicious arcing blow, attempting to catch the warrior's flank and following up with a shield bash.

9 (5+4) + 11 = 20.

Rowan stumbled, the blow was powerful and his defense was comparatively lacking. Still, he didn't get to where he was now by being bothered such matters. His opponent was clearly a man of great skill, possibly greater than his own. He was now on the back foot and another blow was coming his way.

Arnoldo felt a slight sympathy pain as he watched one of the combatents get bashed by a shield there was no doubt that the other was quite skilled in armed combat.
