Stormbird Conversion - Viable?

So, checking out someone's fav on DA, I stumbled upon this beauty

It is a concept piece based on varied descriptions of the "Stormbird" from the Horus Heresy series. to quote the artist:
QuoteIn the first Horus Heresy novel, Dan Abnett introduced the Stormbird. Unfortunately, beyond some vague descriptions that vary wildly between the multiple authors of the series, no-one knows what the Stormbird looks like. There's no art and definitely no minatures of it.

Surely there is someone who has completed a large flyer conversion, so I ask them:

Would a total scratch-build based on this concept art be viable?

The Man They Call Jayne

Anything is viable, but if those things on the wings are TL Heavy Bolters that thing is HUGE. Gotta be 18inches long minimum.

That actually looks pretty cool...

However, I agree with Magnus. That thing needs to be scaled down, or the bolters need to be made bigger.

Was one pic of the stormbird - attached here :P
Should probably mention it to that guy xD

I was thinking it was of similar scale (possible larger) to a Maruader Bomber. A guy at my LGS managed to scratch-build one from two Valkyries.

I told the guy. It'll be interesting to see what he says.

BTW Thantos, thanks for the picture, I now want to build them both :P

Since there is a good few hours of work in the 3d model - he may just cry  :P

Yes,  and this concept strongly resembles a warthog.

Its not a Warthog, its a Puma.

Slight deviation from OP aside, do you care to add any further insight into a project of this size?

Alpha_Wolf

Warthogs have tusks, and that undercannon looks like a tusk. Also I meant the other warthog. the A-10.
