I think it really depends on your meta as well.
HBC/SMS Riptide with a Buffmander deals out about a dozen wounds to any T4 or less horde.
Really nice for clearing out those small camping units in cover as MSS will ignore it.
That said, I don't think I'd take a HBC as a primary Riptide unless you have Anti-tank really sorted out.
Also, an IA with EWO basically negates standard deep strike play as you can lay waste to most things before they can fire.
